Katrina is New York-bound to speak at CAST 2014
Katrina Clokie is joining global thought leaders such as James Bach and Michael Bolton as a speaker at CAST 2014 in New York next week.
The theme of this year’s sell-out conference on 11-13 August – the ninth annual conference of the Association for Software Testing – is ‘The Art and Science of Testing’.
Day one consists of interactive, full-day tutorials led by recognised thought leaders, while the two-day conference features scheduled sessions split into two parts – two-thirds for presentation and the remainder for ‘open season’ debate and discussion.
Speakers will share their stories and experiences surrounding software testing, with keynote speakers including Trish Khoo, Matthew Heusser and James Bach.
In her presentation ‘Black and White: Software Testing for Scientists’ on Wednesday 13 August, Katrina will focus on how to teach the curiosity and judgement of testing to those who see the world in black and white – such as in a specialist financial domain where rules are important.
She will share her experiences in taking a team of scientists from a test strategy of ‘100% automation’ to an approach that pulls together elements of Specification By Example, mind mapping and session-based test management. Her brief was to create a cross-skilled team by training developers, business analysts and subject matter experts in testing.
Attendees will learn how to expose varied understanding by asking teams to visualise their test strategy and how to teach and embed new testing skills in a project environment alongside the continued delivery of working software. Katrina will also illustrate using real-world examples how to customise common practices to a team’s skill set so that change is adopted with enthusiasm.
Katrina is Practice Lead for Lean Testing, a trainer for our Essential Testing and Agile Testing courses and organiser of the Assurity Graduate Programme.
