About this event

We’re excited to be celebrating our 15th year since starting Assurity. We warmly welcome you to celebrate with us on 4 December at QT Wellington, 90 Cable Street, Te Aro, Wellington 6011.

During the event, Garth Hamilton, CEO of Assurity Consulting, will be sharing our new business strategy, market offerings and how we help our clients thrive in the fast-changing digital world.

We’re extremely honoured to have Lara Ariell, former CFO of Inland Revenue as our guest speaker. Lara has been at the forefront of system change in IR’s back office which has led to changes across the entire public sector. Lara will share how she led her team to transform these back-office processes at IR, the challenges faced and the solutions implemented to pivot their operations and maximise the value of every dollar spent in IR.

Lara Ariell, former CFO, Inland Revenue

Lara joined Inland Revenue in April 2016. Initially, Lara led IR’s Performance, Facilities and Finance group as Chief Financial Officer. Lara was also responsible for guiding IR’s approach to integrating te Tiriti o Waitangi and Māori perspectives into everything IR does. Lara continues leading the Enterprise Support Services transformation workstream, which is also exploring how the assets created by IR can potentially be leveraged across the wider public sector.

Before joining IR, Lara was the Deputy Chief Executive – Finance at the Tertiary Education Commission.

She also worked for the Ministry of Justice, initially as the CFO and then as General Manager Performance and Improvement, Courts and Tribunals. She also spent time as the CFO at Te Papa Tongarewa, the Museum of New Zealand, and working in planning and finance teams across the public sector. She started her career working in receivership and insolvency with accountancy firm Price Waterhouse and then McCallum Petterson and Co.

Garth Hamilton, CEO, Assurity

As the CEO and co-founder of Assurity Consulting (Assurity), Garth Hamilton is responsible for running all facets of the business including company strategy. Garth is passionate about improving the delivery of software and co-founded Assurity to fulfill that passion. He has a proven executive management track record and over 30 years of experience successfully starting, growing and leading IT services and software companies in New Zealand.

Prior to starting Assurity Consulting, Garth was the Deputy CEO and Wellington General Manager at Fronde (previously Synergy International), responsible for the growth and development of Fronde’s software development business.

Garth holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business and a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Operations Research from the University of Canterbury.
