The story of Assurity
On a snowy weekend in 2005 at Nelson Lakes, Garth Hamilton and Darren McTigue had a revelation: nearly everything about software delivery could be improved – from how quality was handled, to how clients were engaged, to the trust (or lack of it) between teams.
They believed there had to be a better way. Within 24 hours, they mapped one out – a company grounded in clarity, trust, and professionalism.
That company became Assurity. And nearly 20 years later, the mission still holds: build the right thing, and build it right.

Living our values
The Assurity Staff Charitable Trust (ASCT) belongs to us all at Assurity and exists as part of our value ‘We Care’.
Raise funds
We inspire our Assurity family to donate monthly to the ASCT through payroll giving. We encourage people to donate only what they feel comfortable with. We appreciate that every donation, no matter the amount, matters. Payroll giving provides tax advantages to the donor and ASCT.
How we’ve supported
Since establishing ASCT in 2014, we’ve supported over 80 initiatives and donated over $110,000 of trust funds to worthy causes. 60% of the donations were used to support staff engaged in charitable-related activities, and 40% supporting staff members in times of need. We’re committed to enhancing this contribution.
Our staff’s involvement
Our staff’s involvement and donations help us ‘be there’ for them and help relieve financial stress caused by an adverse event. As an Assurity employee, they can contribute via salary-deducted donation, through attending Trust events or by running an initiative to support fundraising.
