Introduction:
At Assurity Consulting (Assurity) we are committed to protecting personal information in line with the NZ Privacy Act 2020 (“Privacy Act”).
This policy describes how we collect and use personal information provided to us from individuals or by others and applies to Assurity Consulting Ltd. Personal Information:
Personal information is any information that is about you as an individual, an employee or as a client or that could identify you. You can expect that when we’re collecting information about you, we’ll help you to understand why we’re collecting this and how we intend to use the information.
Purpose of collection:
We will only collect information that is necessary for us to support your or our business activities. Information provided to us through our recruitment, employment, delivery of client services, marketing, website activities and/or event registrations may be stored, analysed and used for direct marketing purposes and to improve the way we conduct our business.
How we collect personal information:
We will collect information through conversing with you (including by phone or e-mail), by getting your written response either electronically or hard copy or via authorised third parties.

When we collect information from individuals and our clients, we’ll ensure we explain how we will use that information.
Use of personal information:
We will only use information that is necessary for us to support our business activities and to improve the way we conduct our business.
How we secure data and personal information:
We will strive to take all reasonable steps to keep secure any information that we hold about you, whether electronically or in hard copy, and to keep this information accurate and up to date. We also require our employees and data processors to respect the confidentiality of any personal and client information held by Assurity.
We work to achieve industry best practice in the security of personal information which we hold. All of our core data platforms are ISO/IEC 27001: 2013 certified and under our security policy, we strive to ensure all data sources comply wherever possible. We regularly review the appropriateness of the measures we have in place to keep the data we hold secure.
How to contact us to correct the information or ask for information to be deleted:
You can contact us via privacy@assurity.co.nz or by phone at +64 4 473 0901. We may require you to provide some form of identification (e.g. driver’s license or passport) so we can verify that you are the person to whom the information relates to. On request, we will let you see the information we hold about you and correct it if it is wrong.
Retention of data and personal information:
When requesting information from you, we will only retain this information for as long as it is reasonable and for the purpose for which it was collected.
Disclosure of information to a 3rd party:
We do not share any personally-identifiable or private personal information with third parties unless it is for the purpose that it has been collected or required by law. For example, this would include Government Agencies such as Inland Revenue and intermediaries such as delivery companies. In all cases, these companies will sign an appropriate agreement with us to secure that information.
Disclosure of information outside of Aotearoa New Zealand:
We may share personal information with other Assurity offices where necessary, for example for administrative purposes and to provide professional services to our clients.
We may also use overseas facilities or contractors to store, process or back up our information or to provide certain services to us (e.g. offshore cloud service providers). These service providers and contractors may not be New Zealand entities or regulated by the Privacy Act. In such instances, Assurity will ensure that personal information continues to be protected in line with the Privacy Act. By providing personal information to us, you consent to the disclosure of your personal information to Assurity, service providers, and contractors on this basis.
We will take all steps that are reasonably necessary to ensure personal, and client information is treated securely and in accordance with this privacy policy as well as applicable data protection laws.
Any such transfer of personal or client information does not change our commitments to safeguarding your privacy, and the information will remain subject to any existing confidentiality obligations.
Use of unique identifiers:
We limit the use of unique identifiers, and these are only applied where necessary for their function.
