Auckland branch rises to the challenge

Date: 12 December 2018

An intrepid team of runners from Auckland branch took on the Corporate Challenge in November – a 5km event for businesses and organisations held in the Auckland Domain, as well as similar events in Wellington and Christchurch.

Organised by Auckland’s People Development Manager Katie Ham, the team on the night were Rahul Sharma, Simon Holbrook, Lorna Proctor, Cole Campbell, Olivia Wilson, Bridgette Bell, Catherine Saganic and Mark Espina.

Simon and Rahul finished in the top 20 percent of runners with times of 21:59 and 23:49 respectively, with Bridgette finishing in an impressive time of 25:31.

Of course, it’s not all about the top times, but the taking part and having fun along the way, as Lorna says. “The Challenge is held for businesses to promote health, fitness and wellbeing. Being fit doesn’t always mean being a gym bunny… the opportunity to run/walk with so many people all having a laugh is great for the heart! I came last in our group, but the team waited in the cold and wet by the finish line to cheer me home… the very definition of wellbeing!”
