Assurity Consulting (Assurity) today announced Alex Skinner, previously Partner of KPMG, has been appointed as the new interim independent Chair of the Board, effective 1 June 2022.
“I feel very privileged to take on this role and look forward to working closely alongside the owners, founders, and current Directors of Assurity – Garth Hamilton and Darren McTigue, Assurity’s CEO, Steve Mitchell, and the many great people that make up the Assurity team,” said Skinner. “The industry in which Assurity operates is going through exciting transformation and growth, and I am excited to add value to Assurity’s clients and employees through my experience.”
A professional Director who is passionate about and committed to the entities he is involved with, Skinner has extensive experience across many industries through 29 years in the Chartered Accounting environment and more recently as a Director and Trustee.
Skinner left KPMG in 2016 after 20 years, during which he spent 12 years as a Partner. He has successfully built a portfolio of governance roles at notable organisations such as Christchurch City Holdings, Otautahi Community Housing Trust, Quotable Value, Royal New Zealand Plunket Trust, Effectus Limited, and more. He has been involved in capital raising on the NZDX and the start-up of a significant charitable entity in the community housing sector with a particular focus on stakeholder relationships, funding, finance, risk management, processes, and controls.
“Darren and I are very excited to welcome Alex to the Board. Alex brings a wealth of governance experience and business acumen from his time working in Wellington and Christchurch,” said Garth Hamilton, Founder, and Director of Assurity.
